Frequently asked questions
When is a surface pump better than a submersible one?
When the water is shallow: a well with the water level within about 7 m, a tank, a river or a pool. A surface pump is easy to service because it stays dry. For deeper levels choose a submersible pump or an ejector jet pump such as the Conforto JAP, which draws from 10 to 50 m.
What is a self-priming pump?
A pump that, once its casing has been filled with water the first time, draws the air out of the suction pipe by itself and starts delivering. It suits wells and tanks below the level of the pump.
What is the difference between single and twin-impeller pumps?
A twin-impeller pump has two impellers in series and gives more head at a similar size. It suits jobs where water has to reach upper floors or distant points.
Can a surface pump be turned into a booster set?
Yes. With a pressure vessel and a pressure switch or electronic control, a surface pump becomes a booster set for a house, holiday home or farm. We select and install the whole kit.
